MANILA - The Philippine National Police (PNP) filed with the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Friday murder and frustrated murder charges against businessman Dennis Sytin, tagged as the alleged mastermind behind the killing of his own brother, Dominic.Dominic Sytin, founder and chief executive officer of United Auctioneers, Inc. (UAI), was shot and killed in front of Lighthouse Hotel at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone on Nov. 28, 2018.According to PNP Olongapo City&#x27;s referral letter to the DOJ, Dominic was shot at close range on his back and on the left part of his head, which led to his immediate death. His bodyguard, Efren Espartero, was also wounded on his right arm and the right part of his torso.The self-confessed gunman, Edgardo Luib, was arrested in Batangas last March 5 for a different murder case.Luib admitted to shooting Dominic and Espartero, saying Dennis had instructed him in exchange for money. Both Luib and Dennis are named respondents in the complaints along with Oliver Fuentes, alias Ryan Rementilla, Luib&#x27;s childhood friend who he said had introduced him to Dennis.Aside from Luib&#x27;s extrajudicial confession, police also relied on CCTV footage showing the gunman arriving at the hotel more than 2 hours before the shooting incident.He was seen shooting the businessman and leaving on board a motorcycle, parking in front of a church a few minutes later and then leaving behind the getaway motorcycle.Police said Luib&#x27;s fingerprints matched those found on the motorcycle.They said the gunman also left behind a black helmet and an empty stainless magazine for a .45 caliber pistol.Dennis denied involvement in the crime.But according to Central Luzon Police Director Joel Coronel, Dominic and Dennis fought over control of shares of stocks in the operations of UAI prior to the incident.UAI is one of the country&#x27;s biggest auction firms. It has sold over 125,000 units of various industrial, transport, and construction machines to over 48,000 foreign and local buyers.
