However, it did not end the same—her children never saw her alive again.On February 10, 2016, Gamboa’s absence worried her children. She would usually arrive in the wee hours of the morning, and had stayed safe since she started working after her husband’s death in 2013.Her husband was Dominic &quot;Papadom&quot; Gamboa, once the frontman of reggae band &quot;Tropical Depression&quot;. Upon his death, she was her family’s breadwinner, and strived to provide for their needs.Meanwhile, in Makati, the police received a report that the dead body of a woman had been found along Kalayaan Avenue, near Barrio Bisaya, Barangay Guadalupe Nuevo.“Nung ininspeksyon namin ang katawan nung babae, duguan ang mukha. Doon sa mukha may nakabaon na bala,” said PO3 Rolando Villaranda of the Makati police in an interview.The authorities had no idea who the victim was, as they found no identification cards on her person. No witnesses stepped forward, either.“Doon sa lugar, nagtanong kami kung may nakakakilala sa biktima, pero wala. Akala nila natutulog lang pero nagulat sila noong nakitang may dugo sa mukha,” Villaranda said.The police had no leads regarding the Jane Doe’s identity, until Villaranda received a blotter report about Gamboa. He called her family, and invited them to look at the body of the unidentified woman, which was at a funeral parlor.Upon arriving, the Gamboa family’s worst fears were confirmed.“Pagpasok pa lang, noong makita ko pa lang yung buhok, alam kong siya na yun. Sobrang lungkot ng sitwasyon,” said Niña, Teng’s sister.What was the motive for the killing of Maria Amparo Gamboa? Who was responsible for the crime?
