<div class="media-content"><div class="slider-for"><div><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2017/news/04/08/might-tacloban.jpg"/></div><div><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2017/news/04/08/might-tacloban1.jpg"/></div><div><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2017/news/04/08/might-tacloban1.jpg"/></div></div></div><div class="media-content slider-desc"><div class="item-desc"><p>More than P18 million worth of Mighty cigarettes were confiscated from a warehouse in Tacloban City.</p></div><div class="item-desc"><p>More than P18 million worth of Mighty cigarettes were confiscated from a warehouse in Tacloban City.</p></div><div class="item-desc"><p>More than P18 million worth of Mighty cigarettes were confiscated from a warehouse in Tacloban City.</p></div></div><p>TACLOBAN CITY - Bureau of Customs (BOC) operatives seized this week a total of 614 master cases of Mighty cigarettes valued at P18.3 million in Tacloban City for allegedly bearing fake tax stamps.</p><p>BOC Inspector Captain Joenel Pogoy said the central office had ordered the inspection after receiving information on the presence of suspicious goods.</p><p>Confiscated Saturday morning were than 600 master cases of cigarettes loaded in a wing van, valued at P18 million, while 14 master cases of cigarettes worth P350,000 were found in a warehouse Friday. </p><p>Bureau of Internal Revenue&#x27;s Cecilio Refuerzo said the agency has yet to verify if the tax stamps on the cigarettes are genuine.</p><p>Initial random tests using a taggant reader showed that the tax stamps on some cigarettes were fake.</p><p>&quot;For further verification pa. First test pa lang yun. Ita-try pa ulit,&quot; Refuerzo said.</p><p>The BOC will also conduct further investigation to determine if there are violations of customs laws.</p><p>&quot;We have to determine pa kasi ang premise doon na kapag tax stamp ay fake, consider natin as smuggled or counterfeit. Since established naman na Mighty ang nagmamanufacture nito so hindi siya counterfeit. Possible na smuggled siya,&quot; Pogoy said.</p><p>The cigarettes are now under custody of the BOC while investigation is ongoing.</p><p>Just last month, authorities also busted <a href="http://news.abs-cbn.com/business/03/08/17/more-mighty-cigarettes-found-with-fake-tax-stamps">Mighty cigarettes</a> bearing fake stamps at the firm&#x27;s Batangas warehouse.</p>
