MANILA- The Department of the Interior and Local Government reminded local government units Wednesday to set up isolation facilities before the country starts massive testing for the new coronavirus disease.

Local government units need to set up these facilities to prepare for the expected spike in COVID-19 patients, DILG Undesecretary Jonathan Malaya said.

"Naglabas si Secretary [Eduardo] Año ng kautusan sa lahat ng ating LGUs na magkaroon sila ng kani-kanilang mga isolation facilities dahil magkakaroon na tayo ng mas madaming testing,” Malaya said in a public briefing.

The government is planning to hold massive testing for the disease by April 14, with more health facilities undergoing accreditation.

Several convention centers have also been converted into quarantine facilities to prepare for the possible rise in number of patients.

As of Tuesday, the country has recorded a total of 3,764 cases of COVID-19, including 177 deaths and 84 recoveries.
