MANILA — (UPDATED) The Department of Health said on Monday that the viral video of body bags with cadavers appears to have been taken in a hospital in another country.“Investigated na yan (This has been investigated). That’s not in the Philippines,” Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire told ABS-CBN News in a text message.The health official did not give details if they were able to trace the source of the video.The video, which has been circulating on social media and chat groups, shows a man wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) while going through rooms filled with what seems to be cadavers kept in body bags.In the video, dozens of body bags are left on the floor of rooms and hallways. One of the rooms appears to be a bathroom and another has what looks like a stainless steel morgue table.The video spread amid reports that bodies were piling up at a local hospital.In a separate memo, the East Avenue Medical Center (EAMC) has denied that the video was taken at their hospital.In a letter issued by EAMC head Dr. Alfonso Nuñez III, the hospital said “there is no room or area of such kind in EAMS. The flooring and furnishings does not match any area in the hospital.”It also pointed out that the hospital morgue can only accommodate 5 bodies at a time. However, on Saturday, a hospital official admitted that they ended up having up to 20 bodies last week, resulting in some of the cadavers left at the morgue’s hallway.Nuñez, however, pointed out that the EAMC “places cadavers inside body bags and placed on a stretcher” as a “sign of respect for the dead” unlike in the video where bodies were left on the floor. <ul class="op-related-articles">	<li><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/spotlight/04/11/20/east-avenue-medical-center-could-need-mortuary-freezer-as-unclaimed-bodies-increase">READ: East Avenue Medical Center could need mortuary freezer, as unclaimed bodies increase</a></li></ul>EAMC reiterated that it continues to submit the count of COVID-19 related deaths to the DOH.
