1 dead, 13 wounded in Bukidnon accident

BUKIDNON - A 61-year-old passenger died while 13 others, including the driver, suffered injuries in a vehicular accident at the national highway at Sitio San Antonio Poblacion, town of Impasug-ong Friday afternoon.

Police Investigator PO3 Wilchard Acompañado said the victims were on board a passenger van bound for Cagayan de Oro City from Davao City when the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a Gemelina tree. One of the wheels was detached from the vehicle as a result of the impact.

Pronounced dead on arrival by a physician at a Malaybalay City hospital was Sonia Laput who is from Barangay Sasa, Davao City.

The injured victims were identified as the following:
- Mark Anthony Antillone,
- Jesmari Agustin,
- Abel Cameno,
- Lenny Ting,
- Elizabeth Borres,
- Scott Masin,
- Misiel Masin,
- Sabir Salic,
- June Twelve Lapot,
- Ruel Villanueva,
- Jesame Toquib,
- Danilo Bueno,
- and the driver, Merill Bolotaolo.

Witnesses said the van was travelling fast and the road was wet and slippery due to the bad weather condition.

A possible case of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide and multiple injuries is being prepared by the police against the driver who is now in their custody.
