MANILA - Patients with the novel coronavirus have occupied 95 percent of the beds at the COVID-19 referral ward at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) in Manila, its spokesperson said Friday. The state-run hospital, which became a COVID-19 referral center 2 weeks ago, allotted 130 beds for patients with the respiratory disease, of which 124 are currently occupied, said PGH Spokesperson Dr. Jonas Del Rosario. Thirty-one PGH patients have recovered from the disease and were discharged as of Friday morning, he said. Aside from the PGH, the government also tapped the Lung Center of the Philippines and the Dr. Jose M. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital in Caloocan as referral centers where critical COVID-19 cases are brought. The PGH has enough safety gear for its personnel and is giving experimental <a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/video/news/04/14/20/pgh-assures-public-of-safety-precautions-for-experimental-plasma-treatment-for-covid-19">plasma treatment</a> to COVID-19 patients who are in critical condition, said hospital director Gerardo Legaspi.
