MAYNILA - Naitala ang pinakamataas na heat index sa Metro Manila ngayong taon nitong Miyerkoles, ayon sa PAGASA.Ayon kay weather forecaster Lorie Dela Cruz, 42 degrees Celsius ang naitalang heat index sa Science Garden, Quezon City ala-1:50 ng hapon.“Pinakamataas so far this year,” sabi ni Dela Cruz sa panayam sa telepono.Dagdag ni Dela Cruz, maaari pa itong tumaas sa mga nalalabing araw ng buwan ng Abril.Sa kabila nito, ang maximum temperature na naitala ng PAGASA ay noong Martes na umabot sa 35.8 kumpara sa 35.2 ngayong araw. “Compared kahapon, mas mainit kahapon pero &#x27;yung heat index mas mainit ngayon,” sabi niya.Paliwanag niya na kapag mataas ang heat index, mataas din ang alinsangan o humidity at mas prone umano ang tao sa heat stress.“Hindi tayo mas pinagpapawisan masyado. &#x27;Yung init sa katawan hindi masyadong nag-e-evaporate,” sabi niya.Pinag-iingat naman niya ang publiko mula sa direct exposure sa araw at kung nasa loob naman ng building ay tiyaking maayos ang ventilation.“From tanghali hanggang 4 p.m., &#x27;yun ang pinakaiwasan,” saad niya.Isa rin sa epekto ng sobrang init ang pagkakaroon ng thunderstorm.“&#x27;Pag sobrang init sa umaga at tanghali, pagdating ng hapon very possible ang thunderstorm,” saad niya.Naglabas na rin ng Thunderstorm Advisory ang PAGASA alas-3:30 ng hapon sa posibleng katamtaman hanggang sa malakas na pag-ulan at pagkidlat na may dalang malakas na hangin sa Zambales, Pampanga, Rizal, at Quezon sa loob ng dalawang oras. “The above conditions are being experienced in MetroManila (Quezon City, Marikina), Laguna (Calamba), Batangas (Talisay, Tanauan) which may persist within 2 hours and may affect nearby areas,” saad ng advisory.
