MANILA—Twenty-seven more inmates at the Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong tested positive for the coronavirus, the Bureau of Corrections said Saturday.The BuCor said in a statement that the 27 were among the 51 inmates tested on April 21 for COVID-19.The newly-infected inmates were transported to Site Harry, the National Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa, according to the BuCor. &quot;The said PDLs (persons deprived of liberty or inmates) were received properly by the medical staff of the quarantine facility and were checked by the medical doctor on duty. The PDLs are well and are asymptomatic,&quot; the bureau said.&quot;Continuous focused medical care and monitoring will be provided to ensure that no PDL will develop severe symptoms.&quot;Site Harry has 300 beds and was constructed “in accordance with WHO and DOH standards, and its management will comply with stringent health protocols,” DOJ spokesperson Usec Markk Perete said earlier.The BuCor said 27 new folding beds and mattresses were donated by the International Committee of the Red Cross for the prisoners.&quot;BuCor extends its gratitude for the continuous support of the ICRC in giving care to the PDLs. ICRC is a major partner in setting up the NBP COVID-19 quarantine site and in the conduct of COVID-19 tests for the PDLs at CIW,&quot; the bureau said.Perete earlier assured the health department has committed 10,000 COVID-19 test kits to be used at the CIW and the Bilibid, while doctors and nurses at BuCor penal farms and colonies have been augmented.
