<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="https://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2020/news/05/07/qcpsta.jpg"/><figcaption>Photo courtesy of the Quezon City Public School Teachers Association.</figcaption></figure></div>MANILA —A group of public school teachers from Quezon City has raised P1.4 million in donations so they could send personal protective equipment to hospitals across Metro Manila as the country continued to battle the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).As of Thursday, the &quot;Ambagan ng mga Guro&quot; drive of the Quezon City Public School Teachers Association (QCPSTA) raised P1,473,559, the group&#x27;s president Kristhean Navales told ABS-CBN News.The fund was collected from the salaries and allowances of Quezon City public school administrators, teachers, and non-teaching personnel, said Navales.Some private individuals and anonymous sponsors also donated to the drive.&quot;As public school teachers and servants, we are concerned [for] people within and outside the campus. We join and support our frontliners in the fight against this virus,&quot; Navales said.Funds from the donation drive were used to purchase protective suits, N95 masks, goggles, medical gloves, surgical masks, alcohol, and face shields for health workers on the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic, the QCPSTA said in a statement.The group said the PPEs were given to 16 hospitals in Metro Manila, including the Philippine Heart Center, Lung Center of the Philippines, Quezon City General Hospital, East Avenue Medical Center, Philippine Children’s Medical Center, and the Rizal Medical Center.The group said it also distributed food packs to families in selected districts in Quezon City.Navales said the group will buy more PPEs in the coming days as they continue to receive donations.
