The network’s closure means fewer deaf-friendly news sources for the Filipino deaf.</p><p>Watching news programs, particularly ones with Filipino Sign Language interpreting insets, has given us a semblance of security and a sense of comfort during this time of COVID-19.</p><p>Much has yet to be done in making local media fully accessible to deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals, but the ABS-CBN news team has long journeyed with us in attempting to make this possible.</p><p>Benilde SDEAS believes that Deaf access to information is especially important now more than ever. We, therefore, urge the National Telecommunications Commission to reconsider its decision and to issue ABS-CBN a provisional authority to operate.</p>
