MANILA - House Minority Leader Danilo Suarez said Wednesday he will support an impeachment complaint against Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales, accusing her of "selective justice."

Suarez said the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC), which has been critical of Morales' handling of cases involving the Aquino administration, had talked to him about filing a complaint.

"Selective justice, kitang-kita naman ang abuso. During the last 6 years up to now walang kaso," he said in a press conference Wednesday.

"I know for a fact that a good number of public officials, Cabinet secretaries were charged with severe issues including plunder, walang finile kahit isa," he added.

Suarez compared the pace of these cases to that of former President now Pampanga Representative Gloria Arroyo, who had been detained on a plunder case Morales filed.

Despite this, Suarez said Mrs. Arroyo does not seem inclined to support an impeachment complaint against Morales.

"I asked the opinion of the former president. Sabi niya, 'hayaan mo na tapos na e.' 'Yun ang sinabi niya sa akin. 5 years ata siyang naka-confine," he said.

Meanwhile, Buhay Party-list Representative Lito Atienza, a member of the minority, is not in favor of impeaching the Ombudsman, saying he is rather impressed with her performance.

Atienza noted the success of the Office of the Ombudsman in filing cases against three senators who were detained.

"Remember we have three big name senators who she sent to jail. I have to beg off. I would not want to set an example," said Atienza.

But Suarez rebutted Atienza, saying Morales' success is "questionable" because of alleged political motivations.

"Questionable ang success. Ilan ba ang kinasuhang napakabilis basta kalaban ka," he said in response to his colleague.

Suarez believes President Duterte will stay out of any moves to impeach Morales, who is the aunt-in law of Inday Sara Duterte.

Meanwhile, the minority leader said he has yet to decide on the impeachment rap against Vice President Leni Robredo. He said he has yet to read the complaint.

Asked if he will support the impeachment complaint against President Duterte, Suarez said: "Forget it… Kay President Digong, 80% approval rating, ii-impeach mo? That's political suicide."

"Magwa-one year na siya e. I'm very impressed with his performance as the President but I'm not impressed with his Cabinet."
