Reticulated python rescued in Zamboanga City

ZAMBOANGA CITY - Members of the Marine Battalion Landing Team 11 rescued a 3-meter reticulated python in Barangay Licomo, Zamboanga City, Monday.

The python, which weighs 10 kilograms, has been turned over to the City Veterinary Office.

According to Dr. Arnedo Agbayani, the python is in good condition and will be turned over to the Animal Rescue Center of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) for observation.

It will then be released in a DENR protected area in Pasonanca in the following days.

The reticulated python is a snake species in the family Pythonidae.

The City Veterinary Office urged the public not to harm this kind of animal and immediately report to the nearest authorities when seen in their area.
