MANILA - Amid the domination of candidates backed by President Rodrigo Duterte in the midterm senatorial race, party-list groups critical of the administration are going strong in the contest for sectoral representation.Based on the latest partial and unofficial results from the Commission on Elections&#x27; transparency server, left-leaning group Bayan Muna currently sits on the second spot in the party-list race.Based on 95.29 percent of election returns received as of 7:20 p.m. Tuesday, Bayan Muna has received 1,087,704 votes.Party-list representatives comprise 20 percent of the total members of the House of Representatives, or 59 seats in the 2019 elections.Under the law, a party-list group that gets at least 2 percent of the total number of votes cast for the system is entitled to one seat in the chamber.Bayan Muna&#x27;s standing ensures them at least one seat.Meanwhile, allied party-list Gabriela has received 436,587 or 1.63 percent of votes cast.The Alliance of Concerned Teachers sits close with the 15th most votes after earning 383,773 votes.The three groups have consistently won seats in the House in past elections, making up the so-called Makabayan bloc.<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="https://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2019/tvpatrol/05/10/bayan-muna-edited.jpg"/></figure></div><div>NUMBERS DOWN</div>While still expected to take House seats, Gabriela and ACT earned less votes this year than the party-list race in 2016.This amid the domination of the Anti-Crime and Terrorism Through Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) party-list group in the polls, which has earned more than 2 million votes or 9.51 percent of all votes cast.Figures from the 2016 party-list race showed that Gabriela received 1,367,795 votes or 4.22 percent of the total votes for the party-list system, more than three times the votes they received this year.The number of votes ACT earned dropped to just a third, as they got 1,180,752 votes in 2016.Meanwhile, another left-leaning party-list group Anakpawis is on the verge of losing reelection, placing 62nd with 142,467 votes or 0.53 percent of the votes.
