#HalalanResults: Enrile places 11th in home province Cagayan

MANILA - Veteran politician Juan Ponce Enrile placed 11th among senatorial candidates in his home province of Cagayan.As of 9:22 p.m. Tuesday, Enrile got 166,552 votes from Cagayan, based on 97.81 percent of election returns.<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2019/life/05/14/enrile.png"/></figure></div>Partial and unofficial results showed Enrile is currently at 22nd place with 5,170,591 votes from 95.47 percent of election returns.The 95-year-old Enrile got majority of his votes from Pangasinan (225,440), Cebu (198,034), Bulacan (168,069) and Cagayan.<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2019/life/05/14/heat-map-enrile.png"/></figure></div>Enrile&#x27;s ranking so far is lower than that of his son, Jack, when the latter ran for senator in 2013.Jack placed 15th in the 2013 midterm elections.The younger Enrile, at the time of his candidacy, was hounded by questions regarding the death of Alfie Anido, who was dating his sister Katrina Enrile before the actor allegedly committed suicide in 1980. Jack <a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/-depth/12/11/12/jack-enrile-denies-hand-alfie-anidos-death">denied</a> that he had a hand in the actor&#x27;s death.The former Senate president ran under the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino political party.Enrile, who served as defense minister for the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr., was first elected to the Senate in 1987. He was reelected for a second term in 1995, and in 2004, made a comeback bid for his third Senate term and was reelected for a fourth term in 2010.He led the legislative chamber twice—first under the administration of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo from 2008 to 2010, and again under Benigno &quot;Noynoy&quot; Aquino III from 2010 to 2013.In an <a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/03/29/19/longevity-not-immortality-at-95-enrile-fights-for-last-political-comeback">interview</a> with ABS-CBN News during the campaign, Enrile said this will be his last attempt to revive his political career.
