MANILA - Former Sen. Jinggoy Estrada lost the senatorial race in his own hometown San Juan, where he served as mayor for 9 years, according to a tally by the Commission on Elections, Wednesday.

Estrada placed 13th in the city with 20,858 votes. He served as San Juan mayor from 1992 to 2001.

His half-brother, reelectionist Sen. JV Ejercito, was the city's 3rd top choice in the Senate race, collecting 32,851 votes, behind reelectionist Senators Cynthia Villar and Grace Poe with 36,236 and 34,923 votes, respectively.
