MANILA - Severe tropical storm Ambo maintained its strength as it moved towards Bulacan Friday night, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

The tropical cyclone made its 7th landfall in Real, Quezon at 5 p.m. and was last seen near General Nakar, Quezon at 7 p.m.

Moving northwest at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour (kph), Ambo is packing 100 kph winds and 80 kph gusts.

Ambo will continue dumping moderate to heavy with at times intense rains over Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Aurora, Bulacan, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Occidental Mindoro, and Marinduque Friday night, PAGASA said.

Ambo, the first tropical cyclone to hit the country this year, first made landfall over San Policarpo, Eastern Samar. It later hit Dalupiri Island, Northern Samar; Capul Island, Northern Samar; Ticao Island, Masbate; Burias Island, Masbate; and San Andres, Quezon.
