TAGBILARAN CITY -- Bohol Rep. Arthur Yap was proclaimed provincial governor Thursday, edging out former Secretary to the Cabinet Leoncio Evasco Jr.

Yap, a former agriculture secretary, got 326,895 votes versus Evasco's 324,734 votes. Evasco said he would seek Yap's disqualification due to alleged vote-buying.

The outgoing congressman was proclaimed governor at around 3 a.m., after all towns in the province transmitted election results.

Eight data storage cards malfunctioned earlier and had to be reconfigured, causing a delay in the canvassing, said Comelec Bohol acting supervisor Eddie Aba

"These are all allegations, I refuse to comment until there is evidence. Let him file a case, we will act accordingly," Yap said of Evasco's claims.

Yap's running mate Bohol 1st District Rep. Rene Relampagos, was proclaimed vice-governor elect.
