DSWD to pilot test ReliefAgad app in Metro Manila to speed up cash aid release

MANILA - The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Saturday said Metro Manila would serve as the pilot area for the use of a mobile app for faster registration in the national government’s social amelioration program (SAP) and the release of cash aid to beneficiaries.This, as government continues the distribution of cash aid to poor Filipino families who lost income due to lockdowns enforced amid the coronavirus pandemic.“Sa kasalukuyan ay ipa-pilot run pa muna natin ang aplikasyon ng ReliefAgad sa mga beneficiaries under the National Capital Region,” DSWD Spokesperson Irene Dumlao said.(We will pilot the app for ReliefAgad for beneficiaries in the National Capital Region.)Dumlao said the ReliefAgad app was created with the help of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Developers Connect Philippines and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).Only beneficiaries already with SAP forms can use the platform, she said. Beneficiaries may access the app at www.reliefagad.ph and scan the barcode found below their SAP forms. They will need to fill out necessary information before clicking the submit button.“Sa pamamagitan ng aplikasyong ito, mas magiging mabilis din ang gagawing balidasyon ng DSWD sa mga nakatanggap ng ayuda,” she said on the Laging Handa press briefing.(Through this app, we will speed up DSWD validation of those who receive aid.)The application also features electronic payment systems that beneficiaries could use to get the second tranche of the cash aid.Dumlao added that the department will make an announcement when the app is available in other areas.The government allotted a P200-billion fund to provide emergency subsidies, ranging from P5,000 to P8,000, to over 18 million poor families for April and May.Malacañang recently announced that 5 million more will receive the aid.
