Photo courtesy of Fritz Ian R.</figcaption></figure></div>MANILA (UPDATE 2) - The number of passengers hurt in the collision of 2 coaches of the Light Rail Transit 2 (LRT-2) climbed to 34 as authorities warn that commuters are in for longer wait times while the damaged trains are taken out of service.Two LRT-2 coaches <a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/05/18/19/look-lrt-2-trains-collide-between-cubao-anonas-stations">collided</a> in the area between Cubao and Anonas stations in Quezon City, Saturday night.Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) spokesperson Hernando Cabrera said 5 of the passengers remain confined at the World Citi Medical Center at Quirino Memorial Medical Center as of Sunday morning while the rest have been discharged.Among those still in the hospital is a passenger who dislocated his shoulder and another one who one sprained his arm, Cabrera said.The LRT-2 meanwhile has <a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/05/19/19/lrt-2-resumes-operations-after-train-collision">resumed</a> operations at past ten on Sunday morning.<figure class="op-interactive"><iframe height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/d-HAeFNhcm0?enablejsapi=1" width="560"></iframe></figure><div class="iwantbar">Watch more in <a href="//www.iwantv.com.ph/">iWantv</a> or <a href="//tfc.tv/">TFC.tv</a></div>Speaking to ANC, Cabrera said the collision happened after an unmanned train started moving on its own from the pocket track and wound up on the eastbound track of the railway. An investigation is underway.&quot;We are still conducting further investigation to know kung ano talaga yung naging dahilan ng incident. As of now, we cannot make any guess or pinpoint exactly what is the cause,&quot; he told ANC in a phone interview.Cabrera said commuters may have to endure longer times waiting for trains to arrive as the incident damaged 2 of their train sets, reducing the number of active train sets from 10 to just 8.This, he said, may lead to wait times of over 10 minutes instead of the usual 3 to 7 minutes.The incident is the first of its kind for the LRT-2, Cabrera said.As of Sunday morning, operations of the entire LRT-2 are still suspended to give way for safety checks.The LRTA said the two damaged trains have already been taken to the LRT-2 depot in Santolan.Cabrera meanwhile assured the riding public that the LRT-2 management is working to ensure the safety of its passengers following the collision.&quot;The incident that happened is an isolated incident. Our system, our trains are safe and we assure our public that we will do our best to do our job and whatever due diligence to ensure the safety of our passengers,&quot; he said.LRTA administrator Reynaldo Berroya and Transport Secretary Arthur Tugade meanwhile apologized to the passengers affected in the incident.Tugade, Berroya, and Transport Undersecretary for Railways Timothy John Batan visited the injured passengers.The transport officials assured the injured passengers that all medical bills, follow-up checkups, and resulting loss of income will be reimbursed by the LRTA and DOTr.<div>- With a report from Fred Cipres and Bianca Dava, ABS-CBN News</div>
