P6-B mid-year bonus released for PNP personnel

MANILA — The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced Wednesday it was releasing P6 billion for the mid-year bonus of its personnel.There are currently 195,561 active duty uniformed and non-uniformed personnel who are entitled to mid-year bonus, which is equivalent to 1 month basic salary.PNP Finance Service chief, Brig. Gen. Joselito Vera Cruz said the mid-year bonus has been credited to the individual ATM payroll accounts of PNP personnel with the Land Bank of the Philippines as of Tuesday, and is available for debit transactions.Vera Cruz clarified that the release of bonus to PNP personnel with pending administrative and criminal cases was deferred. PNP spokesperson Col. Bernard Banac said the mid-year bonus was meant to boost the morale of the PNP force.“At the same time, this is accorded to the vision of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte in support to the PNP to provide their needs and will definitely beneficial to their families,” Banac said.Duterte has doubled the salary of police officers across all ranks as he ordered an intensified crackdown on illegal drugs and criminality.With the monthly base pay implemented January last year, a Police Officer 1 (PO1) is receiving P29,668; while the PNP chief, who is ranked Director General, is getting P121,143.The uniformed personnel are also enjoying allowances such as longevity pay, flying pay, sea duty pay, and instructor’s duty pay.
