At tama… para magkaalaman na sa mga kasamahan namin kung sino ang alanganin,” Lacson told dzMM.(I already have a draft resolution. And yes… this is to determine who among us are really supportive of Sotto.)Lacson said he will create an undated resolution in order to give the recently elected senators the opportunity to also decide whether to support the resolution. The 18th Congress formally opens on July 22.In a text message to reporters, Lacson said the drafting of the resolution was the idea of Sen. Manny Pacquiao.There has been talk that Sotto’s leadership in the Senate will be challenged, after senator-elect Imee Marcos said there was move to “push” Sen. Cynthia Villar, who topped the 2019 midterm polls, to the Senate presidency.<ul class="op-related-articles">	<li><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/05/30/19/imee-marcos-says-theres-move-to-push-for-villar-as-senate-president">Imee Marcos says there&#x27;s &#x27;move&#x27; to push for Villar as Senate President </a></li></ul>“The resolution to be routed is about a vote of confidence in the leadership of SP Sotto amid insinuations made by senators-elect [Imee] Marcos and [Francis] Tolentino for a leadership change for whatever motives they have - whether it’s posturing to get their desired committee chairmanships or serious attempts to elect a new Senate leader,” Lacson said.Lacson said all Marcos and Tolentino have to do is “convince 11 more senators of the incoming 18th Congress to side with them and their wish is automatically gathered.”He, however, is confident that majority of the incumbent and incoming senators will support Sotto.Among the senators who have already expressed their intention to sign the draft resolution as of this writing are Lacson, Pacquiao, Grace Poe, Juan Miguel Zubiri, Joel Villanueva, Nancy Binay, and Sherwin Gatchalian.Senators Ralph Recto and Richard Gordon are also expected to support Sotto’s stay as Senate President.“If we will base it on the expression of support to the leadership of [Senate President] Sotto either through media or among ourselves, a sufficient number to compose the majority is there, unless what we are hearing is lip service,” Lacson said.
