<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img alt="Kuha ng Philippine Coast Guard " src="https://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2022/tvpatrol/05/31/20210425-pcg-training-west-ph-sea-pcg-4.jpg"/><figcaption><em>Kuha ng Philippine Coast Guard</em></figcaption></figure></div><p>MAYNILA – Naging dahilan ang diplomasya para maiwasan ng Pilipinas na lalong uminit ang sigalot nito sa Tsina sa teritoryo sa West Philippine Sea sa 6 na taon ng Duterte administration, ayon sa isang opisyal ng tanggulang pambansa.</p><p>Sinabi ng tagapagsalita ng Department of National Defense na si DND director Arsenio Andolong nitong Lunes na itinuturing pa ring “diplomatic issue” higit pa sa usaping militar ang agawan ng teritoryo sa pagitan ng 2 bansa.</p><p>Pero sinabi niyang handa rin ang kagawaran at ang militar na depensahan ang teritoryo ng bansa kung kinakailangan.</p><p>“We have to manage that issue and nobody wants to go to war per se. But you know if it comes to that, we always said that the DND and the AFP are ready to respond with whatever resources we have at hand, whatever personnel we have. However, like I said, this is still a diplomatic issue. That&#x27;s why we have mechanisms to deal with China in particular, and this is something that has kept us out of trouble over the last 6 years and I think it works,&quot; ani Andolong.</p><p>Mayroong “bilateral consultation mechanism” ang Pilipinas at Tsina para hindi lumala ang anumang gulo sa dagat.</p><p>Isa sa mga naging marka ng foreign policy sa ilalim ng Duterte administration ang malapit na ugnayan sa Tsina na kabilang ang hindi pagbibigyang-diin sa napanalo ng Pilipinas sa tribunal ruling laban sa Tsina noong 2016.</p><p>Dagdag ni Andolong, hindi nito ibig sabihin na isinusuko na ng bansa ang soberanya nito sa teritoryo.</p><p>Tuloy-tuloy pa rin aniya ang pagpapatrol ng mga barko ng Pilipinas sa West Philippine Sea lalo sa tulong ng patuloy na modernisasyon ng AFP.</p><p>Karamihan aniya ng mga bagong-kuhang gamit ng Pilipinas para sa militar sa ilalim ng Duterte admin ay para na sa territorial defense imbes na internal security lamang.</p><p>Bahagi ang pahayag ni Andolong sa isinagawang press briefing pagkatapos ng unang araw ng “Duterte legacy” summit na pinangunahan ng mga opisyal ng gabinete.</p><p>Nauna namang sinabi ni Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana sa kanyang recorded message sa summit na naipagtanggol ng Pilipinas ang teritoryo nito sa nakaraang 6 na taon.</p><p>“Tayo ay aktibong sinisiguro ng ating territorial integrity at sovereignty sa pamamagitan ng mga detection, identification, at interdiction efforts. Ayon sa tagapagsalita ng Department of Defense, handa rin ang kagawaran at ang militar na depensahan ang teritoryo ng bansa kung kinakailangan.
