Bong Revilla and businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles on the pork barrel scam and set the first date of trial on June 22. First Division Chair Efren Dela Cruz ordered that the trial be held weekly, every Thursday, with morning and afternoon settings. The prosecution said they need 60 settings while the defense needs 50, which will be shared by Revilla, Napoles and Revilla&#x27;s staff, lawyer Richard Cambe.&quot;So, less than two years?&quot; Dela Cruz asked the parties who appeared non-committal. With a total of 110 settings, the trial will require at least 55 weeks or roughly 1 year and 3 weeks. The prosecution said they will be presenting at least 50 witnesses while Revilla will be presenting 37; Napoles will present 13 and Cambe with 19. The numbers, however, may be affected by the pending motion of Revilla on the exclusion of evidence on his supposed ghost projects with Napoles. Cambe, who is representing himself in court proceedings, was present in the last day of pre-trial. He was escorted by police personnel during the court proceedings as he is currently detained at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center. The prosecution also informed the court of their initial witnesses who will testify on the Special Allotment Release Orders supposedly involving the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) of Revilla: Marissa Santos of the Department of Budget and Management; Avelina Sumaraga of the Bureau of Treasury; Glen Erlano, Jessica Daan and Jocelyn Namoc of the Department of Agriculture; and Junelyn Pagunsan of the Office of the Ombudsman. During the pre-trial, 1st Division member Justice Geraldine Econg was pushing for the speedy trial of the case as she was trying to dispense witnesses through the stipulation or agreement of both the prosecution and the defense. The defense stipulated on the testimony of the records custodian of the Senate on the Statement of Assets Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) of Revilla, but refused on the stipulation on the testimony of the records custodian of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee on the testimony of Napoles at the Senate. Before the end of the proceedings, Dela Cruz also ordered the issuance of a subpoena for the appearance of Revilla, Napoles and Cambe on June 15 so they can sign the pre-trial order which lists the witnesses and evidence to be presented during trial.
