Mark Demayo, ABS-CBN News" src="https://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2022/news/06/01/20210505-covid-19-nkti-off-site-hemodialysis-md2.jpg"/><figcaption>Binuksan ng National Kidney and Transplant Institute ang kanilang bagong off-site modular hemodialysis facility para sa COVID-19 patients nitong Mayo 5, 2021. <em>Mark Demayo, ABS-CBN News</em></figcaption></figure></div><p><br/>MANILA — Inilunsad ng National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) ang Bot-MD o artificial intelligence (AI) Viber-based technology para sa remote monitoring ng kidney patients, lalo na iyong mga nagda-dialysis sa bahay.</p><p>Kasabay ito ng pagbubukas ng National Kidney Month ngayong Miyerkoles, na pinangunahan ni Health Secretary Francisco Duque III.</p><p>Ayon sa NKTI, pinadadali ng Bot-MD ang pagre-report ng mga sintomas at kondisyon ng kidney patients sa pamamagitan ng monitoring forms na awtomatikong ipinadadala sa Viber, isang messaging app.</p><p>Puwede ring magpadala ang pasyente ng mga larawan ng kaniyang clinical condition at agad na aalertuhin ng AI bot ang mga doktor at nurse ng pasyenteng nanganganib maimpeksiyon o nangangailangan ng agarang atensiyong medikal.</p><p>Sinanay din ang bot na rumesponde sa mga karaniwang tanong ng mga pasyente. </p><p>Para sa paunang paglabas nito, available ang platform sa mga dialysis at kidney transplant patients ng NKTI.</p><p>“Kasi ‘yung fear ng mga pasyente, if they are not in the hospital, parang less ‘yung care. ‘Yung Bot-MD kasi, parang it’s a virtual monitoring of the patient. If they have certain complications they encounter at home, ‘yun ‘yung tina-track ng Bot-MD,” paliwanag ni Dr. Donnah de Leon, head ng NKTI Peritoneal Dialysis.</p><p>Ayon kay Duque, inaprubahan na rin ng PhilHealth board ang pagdaragdag ng covered dialysis sessions kada taon sa 144 mula 90.</p><p>“The PhilHealth has already approved 144 dialysis sessions, which is going to be beneficial for our kidney patients. That will somehow ease the financial burden that dialysis entails… You’ll need guidelines or implementing guidelines to support the policy,” aniya.</p><p>Sabi ni NKTI Executive Director Dr. Rose Marie Liquete, dumarami ang dialysis patients at nakapila sa kidney transplant sa bansa. </p><p>Isa sa mga itinuturong dahilan ang unhealthy lifestyle at pagkain ng ilang Pilipino.</p><p>“Ang kidney disease ngayon is number 6 as the cause of mortality in the Philippines… We noted &#x27;yung increase of patients on dialysis, 18-20% increase in the number of patients on dialysis,” sabi ni Liquete.</p><p>“Sa NKTI, napupuno na ‘yung aming 3-4 sessions a day for a (dialysis) machine. And I think now we have more than 80 machines na. Puno talaga ang slots.
