'Gunman brought gasoline in soft drink bottle, set casino tables on fire'

<figure class="op-interactive"><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameBorder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/N8c7dtJn-Ic" width="560"></iframe></figure><p>A suspect in a shooting incident inside Resorts World Manila brought gasoline in a two-liter softdrink bottle, which he then used to set fire to casino tables inside the complex, a police official said Friday. </p><p>National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Oscar Albayalde said the unidentified gunmen parked his car inside Resorts World and then went straight inside the casino, carrying a long firearm, ammunition and a bottle of gasoline.</p><p>A female security guard allegedly ran away after seeing the suspect, causing panic inside the casino. </p><p>&quot;He was bringing with him a gasoline inside 2 liter bottle(s) of Coke. Apparently meron pa siyang extra kasi inubos niya yung isang bottle of gasoline,&quot; he said. </p><p>Albayalde said the suspect poured the gasoline all over the casino tables and set it alight using a long igniter. </p><p>Officials have said at least 36 people have died due to smoke inhalation inside the casino. </p><figure class="op-interactive"><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameBorder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/daeZrZ9R5D0" width="560"></iframe></figure><p>&quot;There was thick smoke inside the casino area because the floor is carpeted,&quot; Albayalde noted. </p><p>The police official noted the suspect shot the doorknobs of the casino storage area and took at least P113 million in chips. </p><p>He noted, however, the gunman could not have spent the chips or exchanged it for cash. </p><p>Albayalde said it is unlikely that the gunman was a terrorist, noting he did not shoot any of the casino patrons there. </p><p>He added that the more likely theory is that the gunman had lost big in the casino and wanted his money back. </p><p>The gunman was later found dead after setting himself on fire inside Room 510 of Maxims Hotel beside the casino. </p><div><strong>ANC, June 2, 2017 </strong></div>
