MANILA- The country&#x27;s top science high school is prepared for the upcoming school year, the Department of Science and Technology said Wednesday as the COVID-19 crisis upends the education system.The Philippine Science High School system is prepared to open classes even if the government continues to bar physical or &#x27;face-to-face&#x27; classes, DOST Secretary Fortunato dela Peña said.&quot;We are prepared for it, the teachers are now preparing their materials, the parents are being consulted,&quot; he said in a virtual press briefing.<ul class="op-related-articles">	<li><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/05/26/20/palace-clarifies-face-to-face-classes-barred-until-community-quarantines-are-fully-lifted">Palace clarifies: Face-to-face classes barred until community quarantines are fully lifted</a></li></ul>For distance learning, Dela Peña said the school system would make use of online and printed modules for students. The DOST can provide gadgets for students who have no learning devices, he said.&quot;The problem of using the computer, the laptop can be solved. We can provide those who do not have yet but this is relatively a small percentage at this point,&quot; he said.&quot;Those where the connectivity is poor or difficult, we will make use of the printed materials and we will make sure that these will be delivered,&quot; he added.In the event that the government allows the resumption of &#x27;face-to-face&#x27; classes, Dela Peña said schools under the system would implement &quot;blended learning&quot; or a combination of physical classes and online lessons.Physical classes will be done in batches to ensure that physical distancing is observed.
