DAVAO CITY - Senator-elect Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go said Monday the PDP-Laban party supports the leadership of Senate President Vicente "Tito" Sotto.

"Kami po ay naniniwala sa liderato ni Sen. Tito Sotto. Kaya lang po kami ay may partido rin kaming sinusunod at kinokonsulta so antayin lang po natin sa susunod na mga araw kung ano 'yung mapag-uusapan namin,” he said.

This, as his party mates Senators Manny Pacquiao and Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III signed Monday a draft resolution expressing support of Sotto's continued leadership at the upper chamber.

Sen. Cynthia Villar, who is reportedly being pushed to replace Sotto, refused to sign the resolution, confronting Pacquiao on the move.

She said she doesn't want her party mates in Nacionalista Party to be dragged in the supposed rift between Sotto and PDP-Laban.

It was Senator-elect Imee Marcos who revealed there was a move to push Villar for the chamber's leadership.

During the interview, Go said both Sotto and Villar are qualified for the position.

"Beterano na po sila na mga mambabatas at senador. Wala po akong problema sa kanilang 2," Go said.

The incoming senator was in Davao City to distribute aid to fire victims in Barangay Ilang. - Report from Chrislen Bulosan, ABS-CBN News
