<p>MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed a Mindanao hospital director as an undersecretary of the Department of Health, a Palace official said.</p><p>Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said Friday that Dr. Leopoldo Vega, chief of the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) in Davao City, was designated as Health undersecretary.</p><p>The SPMC is one of state-run hospitals in Mindanao at the frontlines against the coronavirus pandemic.</p><div><em>(More details to follow.)</em></div><div><strong>--With a report from Arianne Merez, ABS-CBN News</strong><br/> </div>
