MANILA -- Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV, President Rodrigo Duterte's most vocal critic, said Thursday he would remain a "very vocal and active" member of the opposition even after his "wild ride" Senate tour ends in July.

Trillanes accused Duterte and his family of keeping secret bank accounts and led an inquiry into drug smuggling that allegedly involved some members of the President's family.

"I really plan to teach, but I will remain a very vocal and active member of the opposition," Trillanes told reporters.

"Nung kainitan nyan eh ‘di ko siya nilubayan, ngayon pa na medyo lupaypay na? (When things got heated, I kept at it. What more now when he's weaker?) I believe he’s not sick. I believe he’s just lazy," he said.

Asked about Senator-elect Christopher "Bong" Go's plan to summon him to an investigation on viral anti-government videos, Trillanes said: "Bring it on."

Trillanes, a former military rebel who was detained in the past on rebellion and coup d'etat charges, was also asked about the prospect of being incarcerated again.

"That’s life. You deal with what’s in front of you. You don’t need to be paranoid about the dangers out there," he said.

Trillanes was first elected to the Senate in 2007, campaigning from behind bars. He was granted amnesty in 2010 and was reelected in 2013. Duterte revoked the amnesty granted by former Pres. Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III.

Looking back on his term, Trillanes said: "Let’s just say it was a wild ride. Maraming twist and turns. Napakaraming downs, may konting ups (Many twists and turns. Many downs some ups)."

"But I believe that I have done my best. I tried to make a difference, and given the time, energy, the resources I have, I believe I’ve done my job,” he said.
