MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday said he has discouraged his daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio from running for president or any national post as the job comes with a lot of &quot;suffering.&quot;&quot;I am discouraging my daughter to run for any national office. Maawa kasi ako (I would just pity her),&quot; Duterte told his decades-long friend Pastor Apollo Quiboloy in a televised interview at dawn Saturday.&quot;It&#x27;s an entitlement of honor pero sabihin ko kay Inday at Polong, it doesn&#x27;t pay,&quot; he said, referring to Duterte Carpio by her nickname, and his son Paolo Duterte, who won as Davao City representative in the May elections. &quot;&#x27;Wag, &#x27;Day. Magdusa ka. I have to swallow &#x27;yung mga ginagawa sa inyo (Don&#x27;t, &#x27;Day. You will suffer. I have to swallow what has been done to you),&quot; he said, referring to criticism his family has received after he rose to the presidency in 2016.Duterte-Carpio, who was just reelected Davao City Mayor, has &quot;shown her mettle&quot; as local chief executive and could do more for Davao City, said the president who served as the city&#x27;s mayor for nearly 3 decades.&quot;Ayoko. Pantaleon Alvarez as House Speaker hours before the President delivered his third State of the Nation Address.Duterte-Carpio earlier said she was not thinking about the presidency.
