Mark Demayo, ABS-CBN News</figcaption></figure></div><p>MANILA -- Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo said Friday she was considering a consultancy position in her home province of Pampanga after holding elective office for nearly 3 decades.</p><p>Arroyo, who was president for 9 years from 2001 to 2010, rode a People Power-style revolt to Malacanang, stared down two military uprisings and got herself acquitted on plunder charges before a coup thrust her to the House leadership in 2018.</p><p>The 72-year-old said outgoing Pampanga Gov. Lilia Pineda and Governor-elect Dennis Pineda offered her the consultant post. Arroyo was ineligible for reelection last May after serving 3 consecutive 3-year terms, including some years in detention.</p><p>&quot;I thought it was a good idea. I think I would be happy to help out from time-to-time,&quot; said Arroyo, who hails from the farming town of Lubao.</p><p>Arroyo, an economics professor, said she would focus on the development of the Pampanga &quot;megalopolis,&quot; envisioned to become Central Luzon&#x27;s business and financial district.</p><figure class="op-interactive"><iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/p6b6NBpB_h4?enablejsapi=1"></iframe></figure><div class="iwantbar">Watch more in <a href="//www.iwantv.com.ph/">iWantv</a> or <a href="//tfc.tv/">TFC.tv</a></div><p>Pampanga is poised to become a business hub, with the provincial economy growing at 9 percent, outpacing the national expansion, she said. The provincial poverty rate is at 7 percent compared to the country&#x27;s 23 percent, she said.</p><p>&quot;We are a fast growing province.
