<p>MAYNILA — Idineklara ni Balete, Batangas Mayor Wilson Maralit na “health event of public health concern” and kemikal na arsenic na nakita sa mga balon at poso na pinagkukuhanan ng suplay ng tubig sa 5 barangay doon. </p><p>Ito ay base na rin sa rekomendasyon ng municipal disaster risk reduction and management council, sa ilalim ng Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act, ayon kay Maralit.</p><ul class="op-related-articles">	<li><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/06/08/22/state-of-calamity-sa-balete-batangas-pinag-aaralan-dahil-sa-arsenic-sa-tubig">State of calamity sa bayan sa Batangas, pinag-aaralan dahil sa kontaminadong tubig</a></li></ul><p>Binibigyan ng naturang batas ng kapangyarihan ang health authorities para sa <a href="https://doh.gov.ph/sites/default/files/health-update/revised-IRR-RA11332.pdf" target="_blank">mandatory reporting</a> ng health events of public health concern, pag-iimbestiga, review ng medical records, koleksyon at testing ng specimens, at iba pa. </p><p>Una nang sinabi ni Batangas Medical Center toxicology chief Dr. Rhodora Reyes na posibleng magkaroon ng kanser sa baga at pantog, diabetes, altapresyon, stroke, at atake sa puso ang mga na-expose sa arsenic.</p><p>Namahagi na ng malinis na inuming tubig ang Balete local government sa mga residente.</p><p>Tumanggap ang nasa 1,000 apektadong residente ng tig-5 gallon ng inuming tubig. Mula ang inuming tubig sa Ayala Foundation, Manila Water at Makati Development Corp.</p><ul class="op-related-articles">	<li><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/06/09/22/ilang-taga-batangas-dumidiskarte-dahil-sa-kontaminadong-tubig">Ilang residente sa Batangas dumidiskarte dahil sa kontaminadong tubig</a></li></ul><p>Pabor naman si Maralit na gamitin ang tubig mula sa Taal Lake bilang source ng inuming tubig.</p><p>Tiniyak din niya na ayon sa Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) ay ligtas kainin ang mga isda mula sa lawa ng Taal dahil hindi umano ito apektado ng arsenic.</p><p>“Sang-ayon po ako d&#x27;yan, matagal ko na rin po hinahangad na &#x27;yung mismong tubig natin sa Taal ay magamit na bilang water source. Puwedeng inumin yan, i-purified lang natin &#x27;yan, dumaan sa tamang proseso at safe din naman kainin ang mga isda riyan,” sabi ng alkalde. </p><p>Dagdag naman ni Santa Teresita, Batangas Mayor Norberto Segunial Jr, “Kailangan natin ng infrastructure project na kung saan ita-tap natin ang Taal Lake mismo, doon natin kukunin ang tubig, lilinisin at ilalagay sa malaking reservoir at saka uli isu-suplay sa tao.
