Larawan mula kay Chingkai Daño

(UPDATED) Namangha ang mga residente sa Barangay Dawis sa Digos City, Davao del Sur nang tila magliwanag ang mga alon sa kanilang baybayin nitong Martes ng gabi.

Ayon sa nagbahagi ng mga larawan na si Chingkai Daño, unang pagkakataon nilang nakita ito sa Dawis beach, kung saan nagmistulang glow in the dark ang mga alon.

Maaaring sanhi ito ng mga bioluminescent plankton na lumiliwanag sa dagat kapag ito'y nagalaw, ayon sa mga residente.

Ayon naman kay Franklyn R. Buenaflor, information officer ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources - Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office sa Digos City, ang tawag sa pangyayaring ito ay bioluminescence.

Normal ito lalo na sa mga tropical beaches at mas makikita kapag natakpan ng ulap ang buwan.

“The glowing beach is a natural occurrence po it’s caused by a particular type of zooplankton 'yung tinatawag natin na dinoflagellates," aniya.

"One particular type of zooplankton that usually blooms during a certain time of the year is bioluminescence meaning they can create their own light especially when disturbed...this creates glowing beaches. Dito sa Dawis you can see na ang nag disturb sa kanila ay or nagbigay ng mechanical action are waves.”

Pagtitiyak ni Buenaflor, wala itong magiging masamang dulot at anumang toxic injuries sa mga tao.
