<p>MANILA - Around P300 million worth of fake shoes and bags were seized Wednesday from several warehouses in Baclaran, Pasay City, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) said Friday.</p><p>“The operation was conducted after the BOC-ESS (Enforcement and Security Service) received a tip that fake items are stored in the buildings and this was also confirmed by brand representative Lee Bumgarner Inc. (LBI), brand owner of shoe and apparel brand &#x27;Vans&#x27;,&quot; Customs Commissioner Isidro Lapeña said in a statement.</p><blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p dir="ltr" lang="en"><a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/BalitangCustoms?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#BalitangCustoms</a><br/>The Bureau of Customs uncovered thousands of boxes of fake goods estimated to be worth P200 million in several warehouses in Baclaran, Pasay City <a href="https://t.co/JBPkdzqxgh">pic.twitter.com/JBPkdzqxgh</a></p>— Bureau of Customs PH (@CustomsPH) <a href="https://twitter.com/CustomsPH/status/1010119504850923520?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">June 22, 2018</a></blockquote><div><script async="" src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charSet="utf-8" type="text/javascript"></script></div><p>The bureau said the warehouses were owned or leased to aliases Cai Lu Zhi, Yang Yang, Yong Shun Chen, and Angkong, who were not in the premises during the raid.</p><p>The warehouse owners were given 15 days starting Wednesday to provide proof of the legitimacy of the products before the bureau takes the next steps, including possibly destroying the items. </p><p>They will be charged with violations of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act in relation to the Intellectual Property Code, the bureau said.</p>
