<p>MANILA - Star Magic head Johnny Manahan on Sunday took to social media to express his thoughts on the issue of the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN Corporation.</p><p>In an open letter posted on Star Magic&#x27;s Instagram page, Manahan narrated his early days in the entertainment industry, doing different jobs until he became a director in 1970.</p><p>He then recalled how difficult it was for him to bounce from one channel to another when ABS-CBN went off air during martial law, and how he went back to the network in 1986.</p><p>&quot;Now it seems that a gang of 4 wants to finish the long run of the ABS-CBN Corp. with their niggling, petty-fogging and hair-splitting, they have unearthed technicalities that only a talmudic scholar or medieval philosopher would appreciate,&quot; Manahan wrote.</p><p>&quot;ABS-CBN is not perfect. No one said it was. It is open to criticism and is willing to correct mistakes and take concrete steps to improve itself. ABS-CBN, the last issue surrounding its franchise.</p><p>The network, which has some 11,000 workers including those from its subsidiaries, has asked the Supreme Court to issue a temporary restraining order against the NTC&#x27;s shutdown order. The high court will tackle the pleading on July 13.</p><p>The SC earlier dismissed the Office of the Solicitor General&#x27;s quo warranto petition questioning ABS-CBN Corp&#x27;s previous franchise, for being &quot;moot and academic.&quot; The network&#x27;s last franchise expired on May 4<br/> </p>
