Danny Pata, ABS-CBN News</figcaption></figure></div>MANILA - The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Friday allayed safety concerns over the required physical barrier for couples planning to ride on the same motorcycle, saying the barriers were approved by transport regulators.The approved design of the physical barrier, proposed by Bohol Gov. Arthur Yap, was studied by experts and the Land Transportation Office, DILG Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya said.Some motorists have expressed concern on the use of the barrier, which they say might affect balance when riding a motorcycle.&quot;Ito po ay nasuri din ng ating mga eksperto at maging ang LTO ay sumusuporta po sa paglalagay ng physical barrier so we do not see this as a possible safety concern,&quot; Malaya said in a virtual press briefing.(This was studied by experts and even the LTO supports placing a physical barrier so we do not see this as a possible safety concern.)<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="https://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2020/news/07/09/motor.png"/><figcaption>Screenshot from Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque&#x27;s presentation</figcaption></figure></div>Malaya said the government is still accepting more proposals on the design of the physical barrier for motorcycle-backriding&quot;Kailangan lang po talagang maging maingat dahil kahit walang physical barrier ay mayroon po talagang nangyayaring aksidente &#x27;pag tayo ay naka-motor,&quot; he added.(We just have to be careful because even without a physical barrier, there are really motorcycle accidents.)Motorcycle back-riding was allowed by the government starting Friday, July 10, but only for couples.<ul class="op-related-articles">	<li><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/07/09/20/govt-allows-backriding-for-couples">Gov&#x27;t allows back-riding for couples</a></li></ul>Malaya said the National Task Force on COVID-19, the implementing arm of the government&#x27;s pandemic response policies, is expected to issue specific guidelines on motorcycle back-riding on Friday.&quot;Sa ngayon po, magwa-warning muna ang ating kapulisan pero sa mga susunod na araw kung wala pa ring dokumento man o physical barrier na nakakabit, baka magkaroon na po ng physical apprehension ang ating kapulisan,&quot; Malaya said.(For now, our police officers will issue warnings but if there are still no physical barriers or supporting documents in the coming days, our police officers might be forced to conduct apprehensions.)
