5 cops killed in Negros Oriental ambush

<p>MANILA- Five policemen were killed while 3 others were wounded in the city of Guihulngan, Negros Oriental Friday in an ambush by suspected communist rebels, the latest in a string of attacks that has stalled peace negotiations between government and the Left.</p><p>Col. Elizier Losanes, commander of the Philippine Army&#x27;s 303rd Infantry Brigade, said a Sangguniang Bayan member was attacked by suspected New People&#x27;s Army (NPA) rebels at Sitio Magtiid, Barangay Magsaysay in Guihulngan.</p><p>A firefight ensued between the guerrillas and responding police officers, the Army said in a report. </p><p>The gun battle left five police officers dead, including Guihulngan police chief Supt.
