Widespread monsoon rains are expected over Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro, Palawan, and Western Visayas, said PAGASA. Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon and Visayas, it said, will experience occasional rains, also due to the habagat. An orange rainfall warning, the second highest in a 3-step alert, was raised at 8 a.m. over Occidental Mindoro and northern Palawan, which means floods are threatening and may enter houses, said PAGASA. Josie was 585 kilometers north northeast of Basco, Batanes, packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour and 65 kph gusts, PAGASA said. The brewing storm, meanwhile, was 1,495 kilometers east of Central Luzon, the weather agency added. The low pressure area may intensify into a storm in next 48 hours and will be named Karding. It has yet to affect the country but will strengthen the LPA in the next 2 days, said Reyes. Karding will be the fifth storm to hit the country this month, after tropical cyclones Gardo, Henry, Inday, and Josie inundated large swaths of Luzon and Visayas.
