MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered law enforcement agencies to investigate the killing of a lawyer in Negros Oriental.Presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo, in a statement Thursday, said the Office of the President condemns the <a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/07/23/19/abogado-patay-sa-pamamaril-sa-negros-oriental">killing</a> of lawyer Anthony Trinidad last Tuesday.&quot;The Office of the President strongly condemns the killing of Atty. Anthony Trinidad by two gunmen aboard a motorcycle in Negros Oriental, as well as the the infliction of bodily harm upon his wife,&quot; he said.Duterte also wants a thorough probe on the incident.&quot;PRRD has already ordered a thorough probe on the incident to determine who these perpetrators are and to ascertain the motive of the ambush. Lawyers are officers of the court and they help in the dispensation of justice, and we cannot further stress the atrociousness of the act should it be discovered that the felony is work-related,&quot; Panelo said.Panelo, likewise, vows to seek justice for Trinidad&#x27;s death.&quot;We will prosecute these killers and ensure that they will face the appropriate punishment for such criminal act as we commit to deliver justice not just for the family of Atty. Trinidad but for the entire Filipino community,&quot; he said.Trinidad was killed while his wife was wounded by motorcycle-riding assailants in the city. An Inquirer report said Trinidad had been receiving death threats after being tagged as a supporter of the rebel group.The Trinidad family said the shooting happened in broad daylight along the national highway of Guihulngan City.
