Photo from Bongbong Marcos Facebook page" src="https://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2022/news/07/26/07262022-enrile-takes-oath-marcos-jr-chief-legal-counsel-palace-chief-presidential-legal-counsel.jpg"/><figcaption>President Ferdinand Marcos beams after former Senate president Juan Ponce Enrile was sworn in as chief presidential legal counsel. <em>Photo from Bongbong Marcos Facebook page</em></figcaption></figure></div><p>MANILA <strong>(UPDATE)</strong>— Former Senate president Juan Ponce Enrile on Tuesday took his oath as President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.&#x27;s chief legal counsel, Malacañang said. </p><p>Marcos himself administered Enrile&#x27;s oath, Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles said in a statement. </p><p>In a <a href="https://www.facebook.com/100044537672013/posts/pfbid02MasTYSuibwhjybCXPsNpRQpXi85PMnUdNc59UounVrepcTjEWrHDziBkBversiwtl/?d=n&amp;mibextid=tTGgJ7">social media post</a>, Marcos said he was confident that Enrile would provide sound legal assistance to his office. </p><p>&quot;Buo ang tiwala ko sa kakayahan at karanasan ni Enrile bilang lingkod-bayan kaya naman umaasa ako na lalong mapabubuti ang pagbibigay ng legal assistance patungkol sa mga magiging aksyon ng ating administrasyon,&quot; he said. </p><p>(I am confident in the capabilities and experience of Enrile as a public servant. This is why I am hoping that he will give us a sound legal assistance regarding the actions our administration would take.)</p><p>Enrile thanked Marcos for the opportunity to serve the country again. He also expressed his gratitude to First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos for providing him an office near the President&#x27;s inside the Palace. </p><p>&quot;No doubt, this will be my last public service to the country and the Filipino people. As before, I have no other boss except the President,&quot; Enrile said in a Facebook post. </p><div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img alt="JPE" src="https://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2022/news/07/26/20220726-jpe.jpg"/></figure></div><p>Enrile, in late June, said he tested <a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/06/27/22/enrile-gets-covid-19-to-skip-marcos-jr-inauguration" target="_blank">positive for COVID-19</a>, which forced him to miss the inauguration of Marcos and the oath-taking of several other Cabinet members on June 30. </p><ul class="op-related-articles">	<li><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/06/29/22/enrile-strong-out-of-danger-amid-covid-battle-jinggoy">Enrile strong, out of danger amid COVID battle, says Jinggoy</a></li></ul><p>Enrile served as justice secretary and defense minister during the administration of Marcos Jr.&#x27;s father and namesake. <br/> <br/>But he took part in a military mutiny that led to the February 1986 EDSA People Power revolution that toppled Ferdinand Marcos Sr. and installed Corazon Aquino into the presidency. </p><p>Enrile then served as Aquino&#x27;s defense chief.
