MANILA - Pasig City Hall will implement skeleton staffing until August 16, its mayor said Sunday as COVID-19 cases continue to rise in the country.

Fewer workers will be required to report to work except in health-related and peace and order offices, hospitals, city social welfare department, and local disaster office, Mayor Vico Sotto said.

"Our hospitals are full. Our health workers are tired. If you have the luxury of staying at home, do it," he said.

President Rodrigo Duterte will meet his Cabinet later Sunday after health workers urged the government to revert virus epicenter Metro Manila to enhanced community quarantine for 2 weeks, Malacañang said.

The Philippines has 103,185 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of Sunday as 5,032 more cases were confirmed.

An expert from the University of the Philippines warned that at this rate, the country will have more than 150,000 cases by the end of August.
