MANILA - Typhoon Hanna intensified Thursday morning as it continued to make its way out of the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), the state weather bureau said.

The typhoon is expected to leave PAR on Friday morning if it continues to move northwest at 15 kph.

As of 10 a.m., PAGASA said Hanna was last seen 490 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes, packing maximum sustained winds of 185 km per hour and gusts of up to 230 kph.

Batanes and Babuyan Group of Islands, both under tropical cyclone wind signal no. 1, will experience moderate to heavy rains due to the outer rainbands of the typhoon.

The southwest monsoon will bring moderate to heavy rains over Metro Manila, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, northern portions of Palawan (including Calamian and Cuyo Islands), Antique, Iloilo, Guimaras, Zambales, Bataan, Rizal, Cavite, and Bulacan.

Light to moderate with at times heavy monsoon rains are expected over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa and Western Visayas.

Meanwhile, the low pressure area spotted west northwest of Dagupan City in Pangasinan is expected to dissipate within 24 to 48 hours, PAGASA said.

The state weather bureau added that Typhoon Krosa, last spotted 1,930 km east of extreme northern Luzon, outside PAR, is not expected to enter the country.
