Court denies Parojinog sibilings' plea to attend parents' wake, burial

<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2017/news/08/01/parojinogs-mugshot-080117.jpg"/></figure></div>MANILA (UPDATE)- Citing security reasons, a local court has denied the request for furlough of Vice Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog and her brother, Reynaldo Parojinog, Jr., to attend the wake and burial of their parents.Executive Judge Edmundo Pintac of Ozamiz City Regional Trial Court Branch 15 Friday rejected an urgent motion for furlough filed by the Parojinog siblings to attend the wake and burial of their parents and relatives who died in the bloody series of raids in their homes last July 30.The judge cited the prosecution&#x27;s opposition to the furlough, based on the &quot;grounds that the accused-movants are high-security risk detainees as classified by PNP-CIDG considering among other things, their power and political influence.&quot;It also said &quot;accused-movants have supporters that will pose imminent threat to them and their police and security escorts.&quot;The Parojinog patriarch, Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo &quot;Aldong&quot; Parojinog; his wife Susan; and Misamis Occidental Board member Octavio Parojinog Jr., were killed in the raid. The last vigil for the slain parents and relatives of the Parojinog siblings is scheduled on Aug. 13 and will be followed by the burial on Aug. 14.Before the series of police raids that led to his death, the slain mayor had been linked to the illegal drug trade by no less than President Rodrigo Duterte.
