MANILA - Former Philippine Postal Corporation postmaster general Josefina Dela Cruz was charged by the Office of the Ombudsman with graft for appointing an unqualified individual to a director position within the agency in 2011.

Dela Cruz gave unwarranted benefit to Esther Cabigao when she was appointed as Director III, according to a resolution approved by Ombudsman Samuel Martires in February 2019.

Cabigao did not possess the required education, training and experience for the said position as prescribed by existing laws, rules and regulations, the Ombudsman said.

The Ombudsman recommended a P30,000 bond.
