<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/news-special1/nation/9/3/davao-blast-2.jpg"/><figcaption><div class="embed-desc">Bodies lie on the ground while police investigators inspect the area of a market where an explosion happened in Davao City on Friday. <em>Lean Daval Jr, Reuters</em></div></figcaption></figure></div><p>MANILA - Security checks in train stations and ports across the country were tightened on Saturday after an explosion in Davao City left 14 people killed and scores others wounded, transportation spokesman Noel Kintanar said.</p><p>This came after an earlier announcement from <a href="http://news.abs-cbn.com/business/09/03/16/security-at-airports-tightened-after-davao-blast">airport authorities</a> that passengers, vehicles and well-wishers would be submitted to stricter screening.</p><p>At least 14 people were killed while 67 others were injured as a blast tore through the popular Roxas night market in Davao City on Friday. </p><p>President Rodrigo Duterte has declared a nationwide &quot;state of lawlessness&quot; and placed Davao City on lockdown due to the explosion. </p><p>The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) assured that commercial operations of the southern metropolis&#x27; Sasa Wharf, a major trading hub, will not be interrupted amid the lockdown. </p><div><strong>-- With a report from Jacque Manabat, ABS-CBN News </strong></div>
