Some schools across the country have dismissed classes or ordered evacuation of school premises due to bomb threats Tuesday afternoon.

In Davao, pictures of what appeared to be an emergency evacuation of students from the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) in Obrero, Davao City were sent by a Bayan Patroller to ABS-CBN News.

The Bayan Patroller, who is a 4th year engineering student at the USeP, said a faculty member went inside their classroom at around 2 p.m. Tuesday to announce that there is a bomb threat, and that students must leave the school premises as soon as possible.

A similar incident occurred at the Bulacan State University's Bustos Campus where classes have been dismissed early due to a bomb threat.

Bayan Patroller Aaron Pacis told ABS-CBN News that the school experienced a power outage before a school official asked the students to go home early as a safety precaution.

In Cavite, a bomb threat also prompted the cancellation of Tuesday classes at the Cavite State University (CvSU).

CvSU student regent Rodel Vincent Bae said information warning about the potential bomb threat in CvSU have been circulating via text messages since Monday evening.

"Kahapon po kasi nagkaroon kami ng field day kung saan lahat po ay nagtulung-tulong upang maglinis po at linisin ang aming pamantasan. Ang nakalagay po dun ay dahil po sa field day ng university kahapon ay nagkaroon po sila ng tsansa na itanim po yung sinasabing bomba sa loob ng aming pamantasan," Bae said.

(Yesterday, we had a field day where students had a chance to help clean the university. The text message said that because of the field day, some people had the chance to plant a bomb inside our university.)

The Indang, Cavite PNP said the bomb threat against CvSu was negative, and investigations have been launched to trace the source of the hoax message.

The threats come as the government urged the public to stay alert and to report all suspicious incidents to authorities, following the blast that rocked a night market in Davao, Friday evening.

Terrorist group Abu Sayyaf has claimed responsibility for the bombing that killed 14 people and injured 67 others, but the Philippine National Police (PNP) said the claim has yet to be verified.
