President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday promised a "day of reckoning" on the Davao blast that killed 14 people and left more than 60 others injured.

Duterte, in a press conference at the Davao City International Airport after his arrival from a state visit to Indonesia and the ASEAN summit in Laos, said investigators are pursuing leads on the bombing of a busy night market in the President's home city on September 2.

"It's too early to be talking about it," he said. "It's a matter of national security but I guarantee you: there will be a day of reckoning."

He also warned that there could be similar attacks "because of retaliation, reprisals"

Duterte also said he will have to assess if Davao City will be an ideal venue for the next ASEAN leaders' summit.

"That will depend on the security of Davao City. I would have to listen to the military and the police for an accurate assessment," he said.

"We do not want any bloody thing here, I'm sure. I have stated my case very clearly: we are in a state of lawlessness. I do not need any additional power... pang-takot lang iyan," Duterte said.

His daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, has raised the bounty on those behind the Davao blast from P2 million to P3 million.

Duterte announced the reward increase in a press conference a day after an artist's sketch of the prime suspect in the Roxas Night Market explosion was released by law enforcers.

The primary suspect in the Davao blast has a slim built, is between 5'7 to 5'8 in height and is around the age of 30.

Witnesses helped in describing the physical features of the masked suspect.

According to PNP Chief Superintendent Ben Magalong, they are sure that the suspect was behind the explosion, based on testimonies.

He also said that those responsible for the bombing are members of an extremist group, which he refused to identify for now.

The Abu Sayyaf Group earlier claimed responsibility for the blast and warned of more attacks.

A politician being linked to the deadly blast was brought to the custody of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Anti-Illegal Drugs Group (AIDG) in Camp Crame early Saturday morning following his arrest at the Awang Airport in Datu Odin Sinsuat.

Talitay, Maguindanao Vice Mayor Abdulwahab Sabal was arrested along with three other men. He was quick to deny the allegations.

Sabal and his brother, Talitay Mayor Montasir Sabal, were included in a list of politicians allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade, which was released by Duterte last month.
