<figure class="op-interactive"><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameBorder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/EL8uvMBnEMw" width="420"></iframe></figure>MANILA - Typhoon &#x27;&#x27;Ferdie&#x27;&#x27; has further intensified Tuesday, prompting state weather bureau PAGASA to hoist public storm warning signal number 3 over Batanes province.Eight other northern Luzon areas were placed under signal numbers 1 and 2.In its 5 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said the typhoon was packing maximum sustained winds of 215 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 250 kph.Spotted 510 kilometers east of Calayan, Cagayan, Ferdie is expected to bring moderate to heavy rains within its 500-kilometer diameter, PAGASA said.Under signal number 3, Batanes may experience winds of 121 to 170 kph in 18 hours, and storm surges of up to two meters in coastal areas.Signal number 2, meanwhile, was raised over Northern Cagayan including the Babuyan Group of Islands.The rest of Cagayan, Northern Isabela, Kalinga, Apayao, Abra and Ilocos Norte were placed under storm signal number 1.The storm is expected to make landfall early Wednesday over Batanes, PAGASA meteorologist Lorie dela Cruz told radio DZMM.Dela Cruz added that Ferdie may leave the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) via Itbayat, Batanes on Thursday morning.PAGASA, however, is monitoring tropical storm &quot;Malakas&quot; which was spotted west of Guam, US. Dela Cruz said it may enter PAR in the next days.
