It is expected to move west-northwest at 24 kph.

The eye of Typhoon Ferdie was located 45 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes, or 50 kilometers east of Itbayat, Batanes at 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Residents in northern Luzon were advise to take precautionary measures against impacts of very strong winds and heavy rainfall.

Areas under warning signals were warned of possible storm surge in coastal areas.

PAGASA expects Ferdie to leave the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) between 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday.

The state weather bureau also warned of a brewing storm outside PAR.

The tropical storm, with international name "Malakas," is expected to enter PAR Wednesday. It will be named Gener once it enters PAR.

Gener is also expected to enhance the rains brought by the southwest monsoon (habagat).

It has maximum sustained winds of 75 kph and gustiness of up to 90 kph. It is also not expected to make landfall.

Despite being inside the PAR at the same time, Ferdie and Gener will not have an effect on each other.
